Your Ancestry Detective LLC is owned and operated by Martin and Deborah Roberts. It is our intention to provide you with a complete as possible recorded history of your family. Many people from all walks of life often ask the question “Where did I come from”? or “Who were my ancestors”?

Over the years there has been a huge explosion of interest of people seeking out their family history but sadly, in the day and age we all live in now, with the ever growing pace and hectic lifestyles we all lead or are enslaved to, many people either forget about it or just do not have the time.

Or it may be you need professional help because some issue relating to a will or document that is required can be unlocked through a diligent search for your ancestors.

Your Ancestry Detective LLC was finally born through the idea of Deborah Roberts, who after meeting and marrying her husband Martin became fascinated by the research Martin had told her regarding his own quest in searching his own family history.

His research began in the late 1970’s as a result of his father dying at the age of 50. Martin did not have the calling to research at that time and at the young age of 17 he probably had other things to concern himself about instead of researching his ancestry.

But a few years later he came across the death certificate of his father and as he was reading the information he looked at the cause of death. He couldn’t spell or even pronounce it from memory at that time, but he was curious what it was.

Not only did he read his father’s information, but he noted other points on the document which led to more conversations with his mother and eventually seeing his father’s birth certificate.

Names he had never heard of came leaping out of the page, with addresses, occupations and people in attendance! Who were these people? Of course he knew they were his grandparents, but who ‘were’ they and where did they come from.

Back in the late 1970’s there wasn’t the internet, and sites such as Ancestry.com etc. In fact the plethora of other genealogy sites a person can use for research today was perhaps not even an idea.

Long visits to local libraries, reading old film reels of census returns and entries in registers for the county or parish was the only thing open to him.

Over a period of 34 years, Martin has continued to research his family with both the original records he obtained and now the up to date information readily available via a conundrum of online and offline sources.

After losing both her parents within a few years of one another Martin started to search Deborah’s records which led to a lifelong labor of love for family history becoming Your Ancestry Detective LLC.

The lives and legacies of our ancestors are who we are and as you reach into the documents and photographs that discover your ancestors, they briefly come back to life as we picture them in our minds eye. They may be but a memory, but as each of us live and breathe they live on through each and every one of us.
